New Hope for Women Receives Camden Rotary Large Grant
NHFW devised new sheltering options during the pandemic when many shelters were closed or limiting intake due to social distancing guidelines. With victim-survivors needing longer term sheltering than we typically provide, we quickly paired with area inns, hotels and cabins to provide 5,016 emergency bed nights during the first 12 months of the pandemic. This represents a 25-fold increase from the prior year and a tremendous increase in cost; the agency budgets an average of $7,500 and spent $81,000. We are grateful to Camden Rotary for assisting us in keeping victims safe.
