Training

New Hope Midcoast strives to coordinate a consistent and helpful response to domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking across our community by providing a range of trainings to all who are interested.

How Training Works

We have customized trainings available for professionals, organizations, businesses and individuals. Most trainings and presentations are under an hour and can be tailored to the audience’s specific needs.

Examples of Training

Healthcare Professionals
Learn to effectively and safely screen and respond to patients, identify physical and psychological conditions that can signal abuse, and address non-lethal strangulation. Discuss benefits of collaborating with local domestic abuse agencies.

Mental Health Professionals
Complete this training to satisfy the requirements for licensure renewal. New Hope Midcoast provides the curriculum developed by the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) to meet the licensure requirements for Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, as described in L.D. 1238 (126th Legis. 2013).

EMTs
Gain greater understanding of domestic abuse, discuss how to make referrals to domestic abuse resource centers and improve documentation for criminal justice.

Customizable Trainings
Are you interested in a topic that you don’t see listed here? Community Prevention Educators are happy to work with you to develop a training specific to your audience and interests.
