Prevention & Education

Most people know NHM through our direct services to survivors of domestic abuse. But it is also our goal to help stop abuse before it begins.

We do this through local education and prevention programs including presentations delivered to students of all ages as well as collaboration with community organizations.

Through our programs, we strive to deepen the public’s understanding of domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking. These issues do not just impact survivors. They are social justice and public health issues that impact individuals, families and communities. That means, in order to end abuse, we need to work to end all forms of oppression and challenge the cultural beliefs that foster them.

Our Community Prevention Educators provide free information that heightens awareness of domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking. We engage the community by discussing the widespread impact of domestic abuse and how best to respond.

New Hope Midcoast strives to coordinate a consistent and helpful response to domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking across our community by providing a range of training to all who are interested.

We have customized training available for professionals, organizations, businesses and individuals. Most training and presentations are under an hour and can be tailored to the audience’s specific needs.
