Be Part of the Discussion!

April 27, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us on Wednesdays, April 20th and 27th from 6-7:30p.m., as we host our first Discussion Project with the Maine Humanities Council. This two-part event will be held via Zoom. Discussion projects are meant to convene community members in rich discussions about texts. New Hope Midcoast’s discussion will be grounded in the book, Hunger, by Roxane Gay. Hunger is a “… deeply moving exploration of the ways in which trauma, stories, desire, language and metaphor shape our experiences and construct our reality” (New York Times).

Poet, blogger, watercolorist and photographer, Carol Willette Bachofner, together with New Hope Midcoast staff, will facilitate the discussions. Carol is the author of seven books of poetry. Her poems have appeared in several journals, as well as in the anthology, Dawnland Voices, an Anthology of Writings from Indigenous New England (2014). She was a finalist in the Maine Literary Awards for 2011 and won the Maine Postmark Contest 2017. She served as Poet Laureate of Rockland Maine from 2012-2016.

To join the discussion and to receive your book, contact developmentdirector@newhopemidcoast.org or call (207) 691.5969. We look forward to having you with us for this exciting event! Copies of Hunger will be available for all participants.
