Volunteer Options
Helpline
If you have good listening skills and are interested in helping others, consider providing coverage on New Hope Midcoast’s 24-hour helpline. Volunteering for our helpline requires participation in a 40-hour training session followed by volunteering at one of our offices (Rockland, Bath, Belfast and Damariscotta) or after-hours from your home. Volunteers who have supported clients on the helpline for a minimum of one year may be able to go through an additional training to become a Court Support Volunteer. These volunteers provide in-person emotional support during final Protection from Abuse Order hearings.
Support a Transitional Housing Family
When needed, New Hope Midcoast offers transitional housing to our clients and their families for up to two years. While in residence, clients receive services that allow them to stabilize and to move toward self-sufficiency. You and/or your workplace can support a family by funding purchases such as back-to-school supplies or holiday gifts.
Event Assistance
Do you have time to volunteer every now and then, but would rather not commit to a specific schedule? The agency holds events at various intervals throughout the year and your help is welcome at those. Assistance can include hanging posters, serving food, taking tickets and more.
Town Ambassador
New Hope Midcoast requests funding from every town and city we serve in our four-county catchment area: Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo. If you have had a positive experience with our services and are comfortable letting others know, please contact us. We may ask that you speak at a town meeting or help to collect the signatures needed to be considered for municipal funding.
Clerical
Clerical volunteers assist us with office work such as newsletter mailings, data entry and postering.
